I do the Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk every year because my Mom is a breast cancer survivor. This year my daughters Caitlin and Kerrie walked too. We always have a great time, there is so much going on before and after the walk. My Mom usually does the walk as well but it was just a little to cold for her and as you can see from the picture we were pretty bundled up and very thankful that the rain that was forecast never happened. I made bracelets for Mom, Caitlin and I which I will be selling for $15 with $5 going to The American Cancer Society Making Strides for Breast Cancer.

Here is a picture of me wearing one of the necklaces that my Mom made for me.

Look for new slideshow’s to come! I have just prepped an entire batch of pictures with my sister modeling the jewelry, necklaces and bracelets! Some of these items will not be for sale and are just examples of Alainn Beaded Jewelry.

I just added some nifty new pictures onto the the necklace and jewelry sets pages. There are soon to be pictures for the bracelet and earring pages!

Ok, it has been a little too long in coming, but all the pictures in the slideshow have been named and priced! There will probably be some changes on names and pricing because I’m not sure exactly what names my Mom has picked out for everything or the proper amount to charge. I just want to at least make sure that there was something for each picture instead of “-5, -8, etc…” Now I just have a bunch of new necklaces to add to the slideshow. There are some really pretty ones! Also, I have been weeding through my vast hard drive full of pictures and will soon be posting some images of Alainn Beaded Jewelry being modeled on my sister. I’m still trying to figure out how I want to get these onto the site. I think I may dedicate a page to them. This really helps give an idea of how these necklaces look in action! If you want to get an idea before I actually post those, check out the Flickr pictures that demonstrate how to put on the jewelry in the sidebar on the right.

Still working on integrating Facebook with this page. I need some help on this and am getting my IT guy (i.e., my husband) on the job!

The mermaid bead comes from Green Girl Studios, I love all their beads. There are top drill black freshwater pearls and midnight blue matte seed beads in this necklace and it sells for $35.

Wow! My first bead expo, it was so cool. It was a small one at the Polish community center in Albany N.Y. I had a hard time deciding what to get, I don’t know what I would have done if it had been a big show. I got some new beads from green girl studios that I am very excited about and found a company that I really like called Kabela Design. I have new pearls to work with and new gem stones too. I will be better prepared for the next bead expo in the spring and bring more money. Please watch for new designs in the next few weeks, I can’t wait to get started!

Alainn Beaded Jewelry is now on Facebook. I have to do a lot of stuff with it still, but we are now using Facebook for advertising!

Today I have started doing our first ad campaign. Starting really small, but you can only do what time allows. We have an ad on the Albany, NY Craigslist and the Manhattan Craigslist. I also put an advertisement on the classifieds section of my mommy groups website. We’ll see if we start getting some traffic. We should have prices on stuff soon. We are also working on getting the Etsy storefront really up and running.

In other news, the obnoxious spam comments have started showing up on our posts. Very annoying! I will have to get Akismet up and running to block all of that nonsense.

I have been doing some updates to the site. Please check out our new page The Jewelry! There are several pages under this one to explore too. I haven’t really put anything on them yet except for a slideshow on the Necklaces page. I am still trying to figure out how this feature works, so it may look a little messy for the next couple of weeks.

Update October 3, 2009: Figured out the slideshow and it is looking great!
